Hortus Mirabillis
"It is important for me to implement a mode of production that respects and preserves my main capital: the environment."
Emmanuelle owns her farm in Sénéchas, in the Gard, in the Cévennes National Park. Her difficult terrain, 6 hectares of terraces that have not been used for more than 10 years, allows her to cultivate in an environment preserved from pollution and rich in plant and animal biodiversity.
For Hortus Mirabillis, she patiently cleared the brush and put back into cultivation two hectares, including an orchard with various fruit trees (apple, pear, plum, etc.). In addition, small red fruits were planted (strawberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, blackberry and caseille). She then transforms them into delicious jams, compotes and coulis or tasty fruit juices.
She cultivates and produces in organic agriculture, certified by Veritas, and everything is done to respect and preserve the functional biodiversity of the place: respect of the soil, small mechanization, maintenance of non-fruiting species but necessary to the balance of the ecosystem and the presence of pollinators and auxiliaries, sowing of melliferous plants... She follows the principle of biodynamics.
Emmanuelle is a member of the association Pommes de Cévennes which aims to preserve the local heritage and to give visibility to old varieties.
