Le Safran d'Anduze
It is at the gates of the Cévennes, in Anduze in the Gard, that Laurence and Jean-Claude have installed their Safranière.
The Cévennes are for them the place where they decided to live. They settled there for the quality of life and became Safraniers. It is with the will to propose a product of quality that they cultivate their saffron. And in an environmental concern, they decided to settle in organic farming. Jean-Claude takes care of the saffron field, it is a meticulous work where everything must be done by hand not to damage the bulbs. Then, it is necessary to collect flower by flower, and to recover the 3 stigmas to make them dry. It takes between 150 and 200 flowers to make 1g of dry saffron.
The particularity of Safran d'Anduze is that they focus on the production of saffron and enhance it through partnerships with other local producers. This is how they have developed, for example, acacia honey with saffron or beer and wine with saffron.
Their saffron, certified organic 1st category is cultivated with passion at an altitude of 360 m sunny all year round, which makes it an exceptional product.
