Les Saveurs du Castanet
"They were chestnut growers and I only took over the tradition", talking about his great-grandparents."
Camille has always known the Castanet chestnut grove, at Collet de Dèze in Lozère. She remembers her great-grandparents working there taking care of the trees, preparing the seasons and processing the fruit.
For Camille, the Saveurs du Castanet is more than a farm, it is a way to bring back memories and know-how. She makes with heart products that are more than just jams, flours or chestnuts but transmit a history, a heritage, emotions. She proudly perpetuates the know-how passed down from previous generations and thus offers products from a coherent farm: local, ethical and organic.
Since 2014, with her father, they have been renovating the family chestnut grove where 200-year-old trees can be found! While taking care of the forest, they harvest the fruits of the breadfruit tree in order to transform them into jam, delicacy, flour, natural chestnuts or other tasty products. They also produce red berries and apples with a few sheep to maintain the land and clean the chestnut groves in a natural way. Her seven hectares of chestnut trees are all certified organic.
More than just chestnuts, you contribute to the history of the Cevennes.
